Writing on the AFP gigs

I have been having some grand adventures as of late. Walking around, meeting new people, moving into a new hostel, nights out socializing, and ever more Amanda Palmer gigs. And I have been making some time for writing, though not as frequently as I would if I had a comfortable place and setup to do so.

I haven’t been posting anything because a great deal of my writing as of late has been on the Amanda Palmer and the Grand Theft Orchestra 5 Night Stand at the Northcote Social Club. These are really challenging me as a musical writer, and I’m learning a lot about how to watch a show, enjoy it, and still analyze it in the moment. I’m training to see the show through two different sets of eyes simultaneously.

The reason that these haven’t been going up each night is at the band’s request. They are doing mostly new material that hasn’t been released yet and isn’t finished. They are not allowing any video or audio recording. And the extent to which I can use song titles, lyrical snippets, and any specifics of descriptions is really unclear right now. I plan to finish the series and send them to the band/manager for review and approval. I intend to put something up, even if it ends up being pretty cut back from the original. But I am respecting the band’s request in the best way that I know how. After all, they are allowing us to view the creative process. I don’t want to make them regret that.
